About
Give and Go: Learning from Losing to the Harlem Globetrotters is a new play about a boy who grows up to be a basketball star and then a Wall Street wiz, but never really wins until he loses—every day—to the Harlem Globetrotters. While playing for the losing team, he rediscovers his childhood joy.
The play is a semi-autobiographical tale based upon the real life story of playwright Brandt Johnson who, like the main character in this play, worked as an investment banker, played professional basketball in Europe, and toured with the Harlem Globetrotters as a member of the opposing team (losing every game to the Globetrotters).
Give and Go: Learning from Losing to the Harlem Globetrotters is written by and stars Brandt Johnson, who performed in Pitchfork Disney (Off-Broadway) and in Walt Disney's workshop of Hoopz. The play is directed by Andrew Garman, who performed in Salome on Broadway and directed Modern Missionary, which won Outstanding Play in the 2006 FringeNYC festival. Original music is by Keith "Wild Child" Middleton, who composed for Spine and Joe Fearless (both Off-Broadway), and has performed in Stomp all over the globe.
